Please consider purchasing a print copy of Luz. For every print copy purchased until my book anniversary, June 9, 2021, I will donate half of my earnings to Border Angels, an organization of volunteers dedicated to humanitarian work along the US-Mexico border.

About Border Angels: Love Has No Borders

“We are a non-profit organization that is dependent on volunteers. We advocate for human rights, humane immigration reform, and social justice. This work is done in an attempt to reduce the number of fatalities along the US-Mexico border by educating and assisting the communities on both sides of the border. Services include free immigration and employee rights consultation, educational programs, water drops in the desert, day labor outreach, and Caravans of Love to Tijuana to support and aid migrants that are in need. Border Angels promotes a culture of love through advocacy, education, by creating a social consciousness, and engaging in direct action to defend the rights of migrants and refugees.”
 



In 2002, I took part in a day of honor with Water Stations Project, now expanded into Border Angels. At the border, we left water, marked by blue flags, in strategic stations in the desert, and we had a memorial service at Terrace Park Cemetery in Holtville for unidentified migrants buried in paupers graves. This photo was taken at Our Lady Queen of Angels-La Placita Church in downtown Los Angeles, where we first gathered before heading south by bus to the border.
