Triple Honors for LUZ
My fireworks grand finale message: I want to THANK YOU ALL for celebrating LUZ with me these past weeks as the Eric Hoffer Awards were announced. Such unexpected surprises—and aren’t those the best kind?
I submitted LUZ, published in 2020, to the Eric Hoffer Award LEGACY category as a last minute thought, while I was exploring contests for my second novel, JOSIE AND VIC. To my joy, LUZ won in TWO categories, FIRST HORIZON AWARD (for debut novels) and LEGACY AWARD (for novels published in previous years). In addition, LUZ made the GRAND PRIZE SHORTLIST, which is an honor in itself. Needless to say, I’m beyond thrilled!
As many of you know, LUZ came from the depths of my soul after years of immigrant advocacy. I witnessed much heartbreak and struggle, but I was also inspired by stories of resilience, courage, and determination that led to the creation of Alma and her daughter, Luz.
I’m touched that even four years after publication, LUZ still captures the hearts of its readers. There is no greater joy for a writer. I’m deeply grateful. ❤️🕯️🙏🏼❤️
